Accomplishments
- Co-author of the book chapters "Formal Analyses and Critical Thinking," "Fully Active Learning," and "Assessing Student Learning" in Building the Intentional University (MIT Press, 2017).
- Led numerous workshops on pedagogical innovation, including "Best Practices for Liberal Arts Mathematics Education Online" for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Small Liberal Arts Colleges Consortium Professional Development Workshop Series.
- Founding faculty member of Learning Communities in Mathematics, a mentoring program for underrepresented students in STEM at Pomona College.
- Past teaching appointments include Pomona College, Claremont McKenna College, and Saint Mary's College of California.

Professor Rena Levitt is an educator and academic leader dedicated to transforming higher education through innovative pedagogy and the thoughtful use of cutting-edge technology. As a member of Minerva University's founding academic team, she played a key role in designing the university's core curriculum, including its signature Habits of Mind and Foundational Concepts, its fully active learning pedagogy, and its unique assessment system. Throughout her tenure, she has held numerous leadership positions, including Associate Dean, Head of the College of Computational Sciences, and Director of Curriculum and Assessment.
Professor Levitt's teaching philosophy is centered on creating inclusive, active learning environments based on the science of learning. She is passionate about helping students develop essential skills, including critical thinking and creative and collaborative problem-solving.
Professor Levitt's current research explores the intersection of generative AI and education, with a focus on building pedagogically sound tools that foster authentic learning and foundational skill development.
